U.S. President Donald Trump signed orders on Monday to impose new 50% tariffs on certain Canadian products, citing "discriminatory treatment" in the areas of alcohol, automobiles, and dairy products.

According to the White House, the tariffs will go into effect within 30 days.

Although certain imports such as energy sector products, potash, and goods subject to specific sector duties are excluded, the new tariffs cover products entering the country under the United States-Mexico-Canada trade agreement.
