The Argentina national team is being criticized by internet users and the international press for "not knowing how to lose" and being "sore losers" after Spain won its second World Cup in a controversial and tight match that ended 1-0.
The players, amidst fights and complaints, are now being labeled disrespectful for turning their backs on the world champions while they received the trophy and celebrated with the Spanish royal family.
On social media, videos are circulating of the moment when the Argentines decide to ignore the Spanish team's celebration party with an attitude of frustration and anger, with many saying it was a "tantrum"-like behavior for not being the winners themselves.
During the medal and cup presentation ceremony, presided over by Infantino, Donald Trump, Claudia Sheinbaum, and Mark Carney, the players, along with the Argentine coaching staff, turned their backs, looking toward the field and the fans, instead of at the protagonists of the moment.

“Argentina lost the World Cup and its honor,” “The Argentines have lost the cup, their prestige, and their dignity. You have to know how to lose,” “Bad players and sore losers,” “Where is Captain Messi with his experience to instill respect and values in his colleagues?”, “Shameful, they should be sanctioned and not allowed to play in the next World Cup,” “Argentina's attitude, a disgrace to soccer,” “They are sore losers,” “They were gifted so many matches that now they don't know what it feels like to lose one, the important one,” note users on social media.
Other internet users mocked the gesture, saying that Argentina was actually discovering where they were supposed to kick the ball, referring to the goal: "Understand that they didn't want to be rude, it's just that they discovered at that very moment where the goal was, since they didn't find it the entire match," "They were looking at the goal to see what it looked like."
The videos that are going viral show only one Argentine player, José Manuel López, watching the award ceremony and breaking the pact of the rest of the team to ignore them.
Given this, internet users praised him for being the only "respectful" one who did not hold a "grudge" against the Spaniards or the officiating that left the Albiceleste with 10 players following the red card for Enzo Fernández.
