Donald Trump's health has once again sparked concern in the United States after new reports raised alarms about the president's weight, who has reportedly gained more than 10 kilos compared to his 2023 recorded weight. This information caused a stir, especially given the president's well-known fondness for fast food.

RadarOnline reported that in 2023, Trump weighed 97.5 kilos (215 pounds), while an alleged medical exam conducted in May 2026 reportedly revealed an increase to 108 kilos (238 pounds); this would represent an increase of approximately 10.4 kilos (23 pounds) in three years. Documents from his latest medical reports indicate that Trump stands 75 inches tall, or about 1.90 meters.

The data has generated concern among some doctors, mainly because 80-year-old Trump is close to the limit corresponding to obesity, according to his Body Mass Index (BMI).

However, last May, the White House physician concluded that Trump was in "excellent health" and was fit to perform his duties.

But weight gain is not the only aspect of Trump's health that has drawn attention recently, as there has also been talk in recent months about swelling in his legs and bruising on his hands.

Why are doctors concerned about Trump's weight gain?

Specialists consulted by American media outlets have pointed out that significant weight gain in an elderly person can increase certain risk factors, especially when combined with a sedentary lifestyle or other health issues.

Among the concerns that may exist are:

  • Enfermedades cardiovasculares.
  • Diabetes tipo 2.
  • Problemas metabólicos.
  • Dificultades relacionadas con la movilidad.

The Washington Post reported that physicians consulted consider Trump's weight gain to be a risk factor and stressed the importance of managing weight, diet, and physical activity.

Nevertheless, the American president has spoken publicly on various occasions about his fondness for fast food, especially burgers, french fries, and other foods from American chains. His preference for this type of food has been known for years and has been documented during his campaigns and his time in the White House, when it was even reported that he often ordered food from McDonald's.

In a speech delivered in the Oval Office last May, Trump said: "Maybe junk food is good, and the other food isn't (...) I know people who only worry about their weight and in the end they passed away, and here we are. I feel great."
