Following the earthquake of magnitude 7.4 that struck Colombia this Monday at 7:34 AM local time, which has so far left more than 73 dead and dozens injured, hundreds of videos have emerged on social media showing the terrifying moment.
One of the videos that has circulated most on social media shows the structural damage suffered by the San José Church, located in Pereira. In the footage, a group of people can be seen outside the building holding onto each other to keep from falling to the ground. In the background, parts of the church can be seen beginning to fall.
Another video that also surprised social media shows the collapse of a building in Bolívar Plaza, also in Pereira. The footage captures the moment the structure falls, while several people attempt to flee from the cloud of dust and debris generated in its wake.
The collapse of another building was also recorded in Pereira while people were still moving through the street. In the clip, a man can be seen leaving his motorcycle on the sidewalk to flee from the cloud of debris and dust generated after the collapse.

In another video shared by Latinus, the collapse of a section of a hospital ceiling can be observed, as well as ambulances swaying from side to side while patients and staff run out of the building.
Pereira's airport also suffered structural damage. In the video shared by Isayobba on X, it can be seen how parts of the ceiling began to fall during the earthquake. Some people run, while others take cover under tables and near pillars.
According to information from EFE, the Government of Colombia has already declared the situation a "national disaster," while the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, offered her support to the neighboring country during her morning conference:
"Of course, all the support that the people of Colombia require, if necessary, we will be there," stated the president.
