A new statement from Imelda Tuñón about Julián Figueroa has reignited controversy and cast doubt on the cause of death of Maribel Guardia's son: the young woman publicly admitted that she obtained controlled medications through prescriptions she secured by providing false information to her psychiatrist, only to later give them to Julián. This confession went viral, and the 67-year-old actress's lawyer stated that they are considering filing a lawsuit against Imelda.
Alonso Beceiro, Maribel Guardia's lawyer, reported that he is considering taking criminal action against Imelda Tuñón for potential health-related crimes and willful homicide or neglect.
In an interview for Andrea Show TV, Beceiro pointed out that the decision arises after evaluating inconsistencies in the death of the singer, who passed away on April 9, 2023, due to an acute myocardial infarction, according to the initial medical report.
"There is no logic, no coherence in the investigation, and in a Machiavellian way, the focus has been diverted toward whether a fake will exists," stated the lawyer.
Likewise, the litigator said that "the change in statements, who was at the scene, and the time it took to report it puts us in a position to initiate criminal action."
What did Imelda Tuñón confess about Julián Figueroa?
Imelda Tuñón shared that she would visit a psychiatrist and simulate having certain symptoms to obtain controlled medications that she subsequently gave to Julián Figueroa.
On the program Mesa Cero, the young woman explained that the singer had chronic sleep problems and severe anxiety, but his own doctors would not provide the medications she believed he needed.
Therefore, Tuñón recounted that she would attend appointments, describe symptoms that did not correspond to her actual situation, and obtain the prescriptions.
"I lied to the psychiatrist the whole time. Julián had a lot of trouble sleeping, so I would go and describe the symptoms. And she would give me the pills, just like that. So, Julián would take them; he had a lot of anxiety, a lot of trouble sleeping," she explained.
During the interview, Tuñón commented that the psychiatrist had diagnosed her with bipolar disorder; however, Imelda asserted that she later received a different diagnosis related to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and maintained that she was not bipolar.
What will happen now with Imelda Tuñón?
The next step will depend on whether Maribel Guardia's legal representation formally files a complaint and on the Prosecutor's decision regarding whether there is sufficient evidence to initiate an investigation.
For now, what is confirmed is that the lawyer is analyzing criminal action based on Tuñón's statements and other elements that, according to him, he considers inconsistent.
