Bárbara de Regil recounted in her Instagram stories how the accident happened. She explained that she saw a bottle that looked like it contained water next to a bucket and thought her husband, Fernando Schoenwald, had left it there. Without imagining the danger, she took a sip before realizing that it actually contained bleach.
“These are the things that only happen to me and not to anyone else. I saw this here, right next to it, I saw this bucket, my head didn't make the connection. I saw it and said: ‘Fer left water, and I’m going to have a sip,’” the actress recounted.

After the incident, Bárbara went immediately to the doctor to get checked out. Later, she told her followers that the doctor warned her about the danger of leaving bottles with bleach or other liquids unlabeled.
“I'm already at the doctor. Thank you for your messages. As a lesson: bleach should always have a BLEACH label. The doctor herself told me that it is very dangerous.”
After assuring that she was fine, a follower asked her in the TikTok comments what her diagnosis had been, as she confessed that the situation gave her “fear”.
“But what did the doctor say? Is it true that nothing will happen, or what? How scary,” wrote the user.
“It burned my mucous membrane,” the actress replied.
Although Bárbara de Regil did not explain if she will need additional medical treatment, she assured that she is out of danger and took advantage of the experience to remind people of the importance of correctly identifying cleaning products to avoid accidents.

After the experience, Bárbara posted a video on TikTok using a viral meme with a WhatsApp audio in which a young man tells his mother that he drank a glass of bleach and asks her if he is going to die, while she responds by asking him if he wants corn.
