This is the fourth project set in the Stranger Things universe since the original series ended late last year. Following its success, the animated series 'Stranger Things: Tales from '85' and the play emerged.
The prequel will also feature executive production from brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, creators of the original series starring Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), Sadie Sink (Max), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), and Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson).
Set in the 1980s, 'Stranger Things' follows a group of teenage friends as they uncover secret government experiments and supernatural forces from the so-called 'Upside Down'.
The fifth and final season of the acclaimed series became the biggest English-language television debut in the platform's history.
"Since its premiere in 2016, 'Stranger Things' has become a global phenomenon, racking up more than 1.2 billion views across seasons 1 through 4. Seasons 4 and 5 are among the most popular television seasons on Netflix of all time," the online content platform indicated.
