This Friday, a question was circulating among fans at Madrid's 'Macondo Park', the city that Shakira set up for her 12-concert residency in the Spanish capital: Who will be the guest?
The answer came midway through the concert, when the first lyrics of a song were heard, “ay panita mía, guárdate la poesía, guárdate la alegría pa' ti” (oh my little friend, keep the poetry, keep the joy for yourself), a moment when the audience erupted in joy with shouts and applause to welcome an Alejandro Sanz who arrived amidst the flames shooting from the stage.
“My brother Alejandro Sanz,” Shakira said to introduce the Madrid-born artist, as he played his guitar with passion.
“I can't believe it,” some said, moved by the surprise, as for fans, the bond between the two artists represents not just a single musical collaboration, but a friendship of more than 20 years.
Accompanied by some 55,000 spectators singing at the top of their lungs, the two artists sang ‘La Tortura’, a song that revolutionized the music industry by being one of the first to fuse pop with Latin sounds, and which united all generations tonight.

On this full moon eve, Shakira took the opportunity to recall the “ten commandments of a she-wolf,” which the audience recited, “clearly,” before ending with a howl, prior to dancing to the song ‘She Wolf’.
She reinforced her speech of a powerful woman by quoting Chilean writer Isabel Allende: “women alone are more vulnerable, but women together are invincible”.
There had to be a nod to the inspiration for her album and tour, her breakup with soccer player Piqué, and she said that “in today's world, being single is quite a topic,” you end up lost, without a compass, before singing her song ‘Soltera’.
Those who live it are those who enjoy it
As a true woman from Barranquilla, there had to be a cumbiamba parade through ‘Macondo Park’ at the end of the concert, reminiscent of the one on the Via 40 in Barranquilla during carnival season, and the famous dance of the garabato.
For that celebration of the cumbia from her native Caribbean, Shakira brought along the best in the genre, such as bagpiper Marlon Peroza and singer Orito Cantora, who accompanied the iconic marimondas, a figure from the Curramba carnival.
But the carnival is not only lived in Colombia. In 'Macondo Park', one could also experience the party according to other traditions from the continent, such as the Uruguayan candombe, the Bolivian carnavalito, or the Brazilian batucada.
