Armando “La Hormiga” González moved his Mexican and Greek followers by revealing that the goal he scored in his Europa League debut with Olympiacos was dedicated to his mother.
“It’s a very special day because it’s my mom’s birthday today, and mom, I love you very much, happy birthday, and that goal was for you, mom,” the former Chivas player told the Claro Sports cameras.

“La Hormiga” González was a starter in the match against Jagiellonia Białystok, played on Wednesday, September 16. The match, corresponding to Matchday 1 of the League Phase, ended 2-1 in favor of the Greek team.
The player, who wears number 43, scored the 1-1 equalizer in the 43rd minute of the game. His teammate, Roman Yaremchuk, scored the 2-1 goal in the 84th minute.

“There was no twist. The truth is, I finally found some flour tortillas there at the store, and I made myself some tacos for dinner, and that was my Mexican celebration,” he revealed.

“La Hormiga” González added that he dedicated the goal not only to his mom but also to all Mexicans.
Furthermore, he stated that he was happy to score a goal on Mexico's Independence Day, as it proved that Mexicans are talented in any field.
“Not only for my mom, but also for all Mexicans. I believe that holding Mexico’s name high is one of my goals, and it makes me very happy that today, on Mexico’s Independence Day, I can score a goal to show that we Mexicans are capable of many things,” he said.
