2026 arrives with new opportunities to travel, and if your destination is the United States, you will need to process the U.S. tourist visa, known as the B1/B2 category. This document is essential for those planning to visit the country for tourism or business purposes.

So far there is no official figure, but all indications are that the price will remain the same as in 2025: $185 dollars for the application in 2026. It is important to clarify that this payment does not guarantee the approval of the visa; the final decision is made by a consular officer after an interview in which they will evaluate your financial situation, personal data, and travel intentions.
Nuevos cargos adicionales por envío
A new development for this year is that, in addition to the application cost, applicants will have to cover an extra charge for the shipping of the document. Previously, the $185 dollars included the entire process, but now these fees will apply:
- $400 pesos mexicanos si deseas recibir la visa en tu domicilio.
- $320 pesos mexicanos si prefieres recogerla en una sucursal de DHL.
- Sin costo adicional si la recoges en el Centro de Atención a Solicitantes (CAS).
This charge only applies if your visa is approved and sent.
Formas de pago actualizadas
Since July 14, 2025, the U.S. Embassy in Mexico updated the options to pay for the application:
In cash at Scotiabank or BanBajío.
Electronic SPEI transfer from any bank to BanBajío, a more practical option that avoids lines and is enabled when you schedule your appointment.
Remember that Banamex is no longer authorized to receive payments.
¿Se aplicará el impuesto de $250 dólares?
In 2025, a proposal circulated to increase the visa cost to $435 dollars, adding an extra $250 tax. Although this change was not implemented, the measure has been approved and could be applied at any time. Therefore, it is recommended to stay tuned to the official accounts of the Embassy, consulates, and the Department of State.
Entrevistas obligatorias para todos
Another important modification: all non-immigrant visa applicants must attend an in-person interview, including:
- Menores de 14 años.
- Adultos mayores de 79 años.
This means that if you obtained your visa when you were a minor or a senior citizen, you will no longer be able to renew it automatically; it will be mandatory to go through a consular interview.
