The weather in Mexico will have a weekend marked by heavy rains, thunderstorms, and a drop in temperatures in several regions of the country due to and the cold air mass that will reinforce it.

Heavy rains with accumulations of 50 to 75 mm are also expected in areas of Nayarit, Jalisco, Durango, San Luis Potosi, Michoacan, Guanajuato, Puebla, Veracruz, Chiapas, Aguascalientes, State of Mexico, Yucatan, and Quintana Roo.

In Mexico City, showers with heavy localized rains of 25 to 50 mm are forecast, a scenario also expected for areas of Baja California Sur, Queretaro, Hidalgo, Tlaxcala, and Morelos.

The strongest storms could be accompanied by electrical discharges, wind gusts, and hail. In addition, there is a risk of rising levels in rivers and streams, landslides, puddles, and flooding in low-lying areas.

What about Hurricane Rachel?

Rachel will continue to gradually move away from Mexico. However, its circulation will still favor rains and adverse conditions in the Pacific.

This Friday, waves of 5 to 6 meters are expected on the coasts of Baja California Sur, 3 to 5 meters in Sinaloa, Nayarit, and Jalisco, and 2 to 3 meters in other areas of the Pacific coast.

Over the following days, Rachel will continue moving west-northwest and moving away from the national coasts until it stops affecting Mexican territory.

On Saturday, the most significant rains will be concentrated in Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas, Tabasco, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Campeche, and Quintana Roo, where accumulations of between 75 and 150 mm are forecast.

There will also be very heavy rains of 50 to 75 mm in areas of Zacatecas, Nayarit, Coahuila, San Luis Potosi, Guerrero, Puebla, and Yucatan.

Mexico City and the State of Mexico will continue with a possibility of heavy localized rains, as will Baja California Sur, Aguascalientes, Durango, Sinaloa, Jalisco, Michoacan, Guanajuato, Queretaro, Hidalgo, Tlaxcala, and Morelos.

Where will it be cold this weekend?

Cold front number 1 will be reinforced by a cold air mass, which will cause a slight drop in temperatures mainly in the north and northeast of the country. North component wind is also expected on the coasts of Tamaulipas and Veracruz.

During the early hours of Sunday, temperatures could drop to between 0 and 5 degrees Celsius in mountainous areas of Chihuahua, Durango, State of Mexico, Tlaxcala, Hidalgo, Oaxaca, and Puebla.

Yes. For Sunday, October 4, conditions remain for heavy rains of 75 to 150 mm in areas of Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Puebla, Campeche, Tabasco, and Chiapas.

Coahuila, San Luis Potosi, Jalisco, Michoacan, Guerrero, Queretaro, Hidalgo, Yucatan, and Quintana Roo could record very heavy rains, while in Mexico City and the State of Mexico, showers and heavy localized rains will continue.

The cold will also persist. For the early hours of Monday, minimums of between 0 and 5 °C are again expected in the mountainous areas of Chihuahua, Durango, State of Mexico, Tlaxcala, Hidalgo, Oaxaca, and Puebla.
