The U.S. Federal Prosecutor's Office asked a New York judge on Monday to order the forfeiture of $15 billion from Mexican drug trafficker Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada following his guilty plea.

According to the motion addressed in a letter to the case judge, Brian M. Cogan, which was accessed by EFE, the Prosecutor's Office is requesting a life sentence and that multi-billion dollar confiscation, "as agreed upon in the guilty plea."

Zambada, 76, considered for decades to be one of the main leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel, pleaded guilty in August 2025 to various crimes related to drug trafficking and organized crime, and he will receive his sentence on July 20th.
