Neutrogena admitted this Thursday that they made actress Hayden Panettiere, who was an ambassador for the cosmetics brand for over a decade, feel unsupported after she spoke openly about her struggle with postpartum depression.
"Hayden was a valuable member of our community. We are proud to have collaborated with her and we understand that we made her feel unsupported during such a difficult time. This does not represent the values of Neutrogena or the image we want to project," the company indicated in a statement issued on its official Instagram account.
The brand lamented the actress's sudden death last Sunday and praised the courage she showed in sharing an experience that "contributed to generating important conversations and creating awareness," it added.

The company announced that it is making "a significant investment with a long-standing community health partner to help more women have access to the support they need, including care for postpartum depression," it stated.
Panettiere recounted last May on a radio show, as well as in her memoirs and other interviews, that Neutrogena tried to end their collaboration after she spoke publicly about the postpartum depression she suffered following the birth of her daughter Kaya.
These statements went viral after her sudden death and sparked a wave of criticism and calls to boycott the cosmetics brand.
The actress, known for her roles in projects such as 'Heroes' or the 'Scream' horror franchise, died last Sunday at age 36 at a residence in South Carolina.
Her partner, actor Brian Hickerson, and his brother were the ones who alerted emergency services at the time of her death.
After a preliminary autopsy ruled out signs of violence, the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has joined the investigation to clarify the causes of her premature passing.
Raised in Palisades, New York, her mother was a soap opera actress and her father a fire captain. As a child, she appeared in popular television series such as 'Ally McBeal' and 'Malcolm in the Middle'.
The artist was a mother to a daughter, Kaya, born in 2014 from her relationship with her ex-partner, the Ukrainian former world heavyweight boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko. EFE
