The Army announced this Sunday a reward equivalent to 30,000 dollars (about 26,000 euros) to any Iranian citizen who kills or captures and hands over a U.S. soldier, with a premium that will be doubled if the action is carried out by a woman.

"If an Iranian citizen kills or captures and hands over an invading American soldier, they will receive a reward equivalent to 30,000 dollars from the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran," stated the commander-in-chief of the Iranian Army, Major General Amir Hatami, according to the IRNA agency.

Hatami added that, if a woman carries out such an action, "she will receive double this reward."

The high-ranking military official said they decided to implement the plan following a "large number of requests" from people who wished to contribute financially to the war with Israel and the United States, which began on February 28.

After almost six months of conflict, the U.S. has not carried out a ground invasion of Iran, and Hatami did not provide details on where or when the death or capture of U.S. soldiers was expected to take place.

Tehran's announcement regarding the reward comes two days after U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that, after defeating Iran, he would declare the

Iran immediately rejected those statements and asserted that the Strait of Hormuz "cannot be taken by force, by a tweet, an aircraft carrier, an order, or an electoral speech," reaffirming its sovereignty over the strategic maritime passage.

The head of the Iranian Army claimed today that control of Hormuz by Tehran is one of the conditions to end the war and described that sea lane as a "geopolitical capacity granted by God to the Iranian people."

Tehran closed the Hormuz passage in mid-July, following new U.S. bombings against the south of Iranian territory, to which the Islamic Republic also responded by attacking U.S. targets in Middle Eastern countries, while Washington re-established a naval blockade on Iranian ports and vessels.

Iran has demanded that the United States end the war, lift the blockade on its ports and ships, and allow it to sell its oil in international markets in exchange for the reopening of the strait.
