Where and at what time will the IMSS march in CDMX be on this October 13th?
According to an interview she gave to Azucena Uresti, Barragán confirmed that the megamarch would be moved forward, from October 14 to October 13, starting at 3:00 p.m.
The mobilization is planned to start in Mexico City, departing from the Siglo XXI National Medical Center toward the National Palace: “The demonstration at Siglo XXI is still on, we must gather there at three in the afternoon. From there we are going to march; we are still determining the arrival point, but it is confirmed for three in the afternoon.”
So far, it is known that the National Movement of IMSS Workers will be accompanied and supported by employees of the Institute for Social Security and Services for State Workers (ISSSTE) and other health sectors, as Barragán explained.

Also present in solidarity would be collectives from the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE), the National Union of Workers of the Metro Transportation System, and Pemex.
The movement's leader stated that the plans for the megamarch have been changing because the protesters are being intimidated by riot police who “have orders to repress us with blows”.
Both Mery Barragán and the rest of the IMSS employees who are protesting want to prevent information leaks prior to the megamarch to avoid intervention.
In addition to the megamarch, Barragán stated that employees are working under protest with “flash” rallies, sit-ins, and intermittent blockades in the 37 sections of the union across the country.
What are the IMSS workers asking for?
The workers of the National Movement of IMSS Workers are calling for the removal of Rafael Olivos Hernández, general secretary of the National Union of Social Security Workers (SNTSS), better working conditions, salary increases, and the supply of medicines and medical equipment. The IMSS workers who will participate in the demonstration on October 13, 2026, demand the following measures:
- Aumento salarial directo del 10%
- Convocatoria al Congreso Nacional Extraordinario para avanzar hacia la elección de una nueva dirigencia sindical
- Revisión de jubilaciones y pensiones para regresar al modelo anterior de afores
- Contratación de más personal
- Garantías contra represalias sindicales, derecho a la manifestación sin sanciones
- Transparencia en las votaciones sindicales
Sheinbaum announces press conference to address the protests
During her morning press conference, Claudia Sheinbaum announced that there will be a press conference led by the Director General of the IMSS, Zoé Robledo, and the Secretary of Labor, Marath Bolaños, to speak about the issue of the institute and the surrounding movements.
In addition to this, the president admitted that the protests respond to legitimate demands such as the shortage of medicines in medical units and poor working conditions: “There are demands that are legitimate and must be addressed,” she noted.
