U.S. President Donald Trump lashed out at Norway, which he labeled a "shithole country," and stated that Norwegian immigrants are not welcome in the United States because the Nobel Committee did not grant him the Peace Prize.
"Frankly, Norway sucks. Norway has become a shithole country, actually," Trump said at a campaign rally on Sunday.
Trump, who began his second presidential term in January 2025, has not hidden his desire to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

Judge and former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay, of South Africa, was the winner of the prize this year, a decision that Trump called "shameful and embarrassing."
The U.S. leader declared on Sunday that he would welcome immigrants from certain countries, but not from Norway "because I didn't get the Nobel Prize."
"So I don't want anyone from Norway," he stated in the city of Port Huron, Michigan, on the eve of the midterm legislative elections on November 3.
Last year, when the Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado won the Nobel Peace Prize, Trump had already shown his anger at not being recognized with the award.
Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide responded on Monday to Trump's comments about the Nobel, insisting that the committee is independent.
"He knows very well that the Nobel Committee is independent. We have reminded him of that, just in case anyone had any doubts, and that remains the case," he told the public radio station NRK.
Trump was the subject of harsh criticism in 2018, during his first term, for using similar vulgar expressions to refer to Haiti and some African countries.
