Nicki Minaj could change course and become the new White House press secretary, at least that is what is being proposed within the political circle of Donald Trump. Could she be the new replacement for Katie Zacharia? This is what is known.
Steven Cheung, the White House communications director, suggested the possibility of Minaj being part of the presidential cabinet after chatting with the rapper aboard Air Force One.
The comment sparked reactions on social media, especially because the position became vacant after the departure of Katie Zacharia, who was in the role for less than five days.
Cheung shared a video of his conversation with Minaj while they were traveling to a Trump rally in Michigan, where the singer was expected to take the stage. “Ladies and gentlemen, I think we have found the new White House press secretary!” the official wrote on X, tagging the artist.
The performer of songs like Anaconda and Super Bass reposted the post accompanied by an American flag and a laughing emoji, but did not confirm if she would be interested in taking the position.
The potential arrival of Minaj to the White House also ignited comments among her fans, known as Barbz. Some X users backed the idea and argued that her experience facing interviews, the media attention she has been under since gaining fame, and the multiple controversies she has been involved in could serve her well in a White House communications role.
So far, there have been no official statements regarding Nicki Minaj as communications secretary for the Trump Administration, nor any announcements promoting her candidacy to be part of the cabinet.
During the talk, Minaj defended Trump's economic management and described him as a businessman who knows how to get ahead even in difficult times. She also praised his foreign policy stance and asserted that the president tells other countries what the United States needs. Her comments reinforced attention on her approach to the president, whom she has publicly supported this year.
Minaj also spoke about the midterm elections and stated that she considers it important for Trump to have Republican support in Congress during the last two years of his presidency.
Among the programs she highlighted are the so-called Trump Accounts, an investment project for minors. The singer has shown interest in this initiative and previously announced that she would contribute to funding accounts for the children of some of her followers.
This is not the first time that Nicki Minaj has openly expressed her total support for Donald Trump and his policies. Last January, the rapper appeared alongside the American president at an event in Washington to promote the very same Trump Accounts; at the time, she praised his work inside and outside the country and declared herself one of his biggest fans.
