The first trailer for '', released this Monday by and , promises darkness, plenty of action, countless superheroes, and a powerful new masked enemy, Doctor Doom (, after leaving Iron Man behind).

Thor () tries to gather the largest group of superheroes in cinematic history to fight an enemy so powerful that they will need "a miracle" to defeat him, as the god of Thunder acknowledges.

In this first, very dark trailer, we see the return of as Captain America, something that had already been teased in one of the short videos that Marvel studios have been releasing over the last few months, just to introduce characters.

They did it for Captain America and previously for Thor; King M'Baku of Wakanda, along with Shuri/Black Panther (Letitia Wright) and The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), or the X-Men, specifically Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart), Magneto (Ian McKellen), and Scott Summers/Cyclops (James Marsden).

Now, the first teaser for the film features Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Anthony Mackie's Captain America, Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Xu Shang-Chi (Simu Liu), Loki (Tom Hiddleston), as well as Cyclops, Charles Xavier, and Magneto.

Meanwhile, Thor explains the situation: "Something is coming, something we may not be able to avoid. Before the day is out, we will face an unthinkable decision."

"I have gathered many warriors in my life, warriors stronger than all of us combined. And they died, they died facing threats and enemies that I feared less than this one. All their sacrifices will have been in vain if we do not stand together," asserts Thor, who thus emerges as the spiritual leader of this huge group of superheroes.

And in this first teaser for the film, which will arrive in theaters around the world on December 18, Thor is seen trying to confront an unfazed Doctor Doom, who appears immune to the Asgardian king's powers.

A character played by Downey Jr., who thus returns to the Avengers after the Iron Man he brought to life in eight films died at the end of 'Endgame' (2019).

The trailer closes with the first meeting between Thor and Steve Rogers, who hung up his Captain America suit after the Avengers defeated Thanos and he decided to return to the past to resume his relationship with Peggy Carter.

Captain America, still without his suit, easily attracts Thor's hammer, a scene interrupted by the countdown to the premiere: 4 months, 27 days, 15 hours remain...

The film, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, will be shown in theaters certified as Infinity Vision, a system that "guarantees an exceptional cinematic experience thanks to large-format screens, high-brightness images, and outstanding sound quality," according to a statement from Disney.

The film also stars Wyatt Russell, Channing Tatum, Joseph Quinn, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Lewis Pullman, Kelsey Grammer, Kathryn Newton, Danny Ramirez, Winston Duke, Alan Cumming, Hannah John-Kamen, Rebecca Romijn, Mabel Cadena, and Tenoch Huerta Mejía.
