Emma Coronel surprised everyone by revealing that Banda El Recodo and Los Tucanes de Tijuana allegedly entertained at the baptism of her twin daughters, the result of her relationship with drug trafficker Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán. The statement sparked controversy, and the Sinaloan band had to respond as they were heavily criticized on social media.
The revelation from “El Chapo’s” wife emerged during a live broadcast on the Kick platform in a conversation she held with Lonche de Huevito, where she spoke about her private life and recalled some family events. When the topic of the musical groups that had participated in her family's celebrations came up, Emma Coronel asserted that Los Tucanes de Tijuana were at her daughters' baptism and confirmed that Banda El Recodo had also participated.
“Los Tucanes went to my children's baptism, to my babies’,” said the model, who also reportedly made it clear that said band was her favorite. On the other hand, when asked if El Recodo was also present, Coronel quickly replied: “Breaking news, yes”.

Following Emma Coronel's statements, Ricky Yocupicio and Geovanni Mondragón, current vocalists of Banda El Recodo, were questioned on the program De Primera Mano about whether the group really played at the baptism of El Chapo and Emma Coronel's twins.
They said that they cannot be sure if it happened, because those who could give a definitive answer are the members who were part of the band at that time.
Ricky Yocupicio explained that, due to the group's work dynamics, they often arrive at a performance without even knowing the person who hired the show.
"The people who would have to tell you are the ones who were there at the time; we don't know if they worked or didn't work, because at the end of the day, we go to places where we don't even know who pays us, to be honest," Yocupicio replied.
Also, the vocalist emphasized that they do not investigate the identity of who hires them and do not look down on any client: "If you have the means to pay for Banda El Recodo, we have always said it, whether it's a taxi driver, a bricklayer, a waiter."
Yocupicio added: "We don't know if it fell to the previous ones or if it fell to us, because we don't go around asking, honestly. We arrive, we work [...] many times we don't even have the opportunity to meet the person who is paying, because we have another event the next day."
For his part, Geovanni Mondragón said that on some occasions they perform without a stage, because that is what the client requests. "We went to a party without a stage and, just like that, practically at street level, because that was what the client asked for. And the client asks for what they ask for. So, we don't worry about that," he recounted.

The current vocalists asserted that they cannot know and mentioned that at several private events, they do not always know the identity of the person making the hiring or covering the payment.
