Halle Berry spoke with The Cut about her role as Sharon Coombs in the film Crime 101. According to IMDB, the film follows the plot of a thief and an insurance broker who meet and plan a big heist while a detective is hot on their trail.
The actress noted that the film also addresses the issue of ageism and how women are often excluded as they age. “The character resonated with me deeply. You reach an age where you feel marginalized, devalued. You feel it at work. You feel it in society,” she added: “I am not going to allow myself to be erased. I am going to speak louder than ever,” regarding ageism in Hollywood.
Among various projects, Halle Berry launched Raspin, a healthcare platform for menopause and women that aims to refocus the conversation around menopause and perimenopause in 2020.
Since then, she has changed the name to focus more directly on women's health and longevity. “I’m almost 60. Fighting for women’s health feels like a formidable cause for my second act,” she said.
“I realized that only we women can destigmatize this by talking about it, making it acceptable, by talking about it with our husbands, our partners, our children, our coworkers,” she added.
Halle Berry told Marie Claire magazine that she does not fear aging, as she now feels better and stronger than in her youth. Furthermore, she constantly follows “strict wellness rituals.”
She attributes red light therapy, routine gym sessions, and a sugar-free diet to keeping her young. She takes vitamins and supplements daily.
“Age is just a number they give us at birth. I feel like I’m in my prime now. Sugar is the enemy. You couldn’t put anything sweet in front of me right now and pay me to eat it. I’m just not interested.”
