Sahara Ray, who was romantically linked to Justin Bieber a few years ago, has passed away after suffering "so much pain," according to new reports. Who was she and what happened to her? Here is what is known.
The model and influencer lost her life shortly after becoming a mother for the first time and after turning 34 years old. Outlets like Page Six detail that she died following an overdose after several years of battling addiction, an autoimmune disease, and a severe decline in her mental health.

“Sahara had been struggling with her mental health in recent years, and it was heartbreaking to witness someone we loved so deeply suffer so much pain,” the outlet quotes Jessica Serfaty, a close friend of the actress whom she met on the set of the DNCE music video Cake by the Ocean.
“I think it’s important to remember that a person’s life can hold extraordinary beauty and profound pain at the same time. One does not necessarily erase the other,” she noted.
As she recounted, she and other close friends would gather to support Sahara and her family to offer them stability when they needed it most and to show Ray “how much they loved her.”
“She was so much more than the difficult chapters of her life,” Sefarty recalled, highlighting her adventurous and fun-loving personality, filled with “mischief, tenderness, and magic.”
TMZ confirmed her tragic death earlier this week, but without giving further details of what happened, citing Ray's family: “She passed away last night surrounded by her family at the hospital. She was very loved.”
The latest details revealed about her death point to the effects of a fentanyl overdose at her Los Angeles home. Apparently, she was on life support before her family made the decision to take her off it.

Sahara Ray made a name for herself through various fashion projects, including her own women's swimwear brand, Sahara Ray Swim. She was born in Australia on October 18, 1993; it is known that her father is professional surfer Tony Ray.
Within the music industry, she gained popularity after being linked to Justin Bieber in 2016. Rumors about their romance arose after they were photographed during a date in Hawaii and on several outings with a group of friends.
In 2024, she herself confirmed that she suffered from Guillain-Barré syndrome, an autoimmune disease that left her partially paralyzed and in a wheelchair after being hit by a car.
