The family of reported on Wednesday that the American blogger is receiving medical treatment in Miami following an incident that occurred during a live stream, in which, according to emergency services, he allegedly self-harmed.

The team and relatives of Hilton, known for covering celebrity news, confirmed on his official blog that "Perez is receiving medical treatment" and that the "family's focus right now is on his well-being," although they did not offer further details about the journalist's health status.

"We kindly ask that you respect the privacy of Perez, as well as that of his family, during this difficult time. If and when we are able to share any updates, we will do so with everyone as soon as possible," stated the text on his portal perezhilton.com.

Those close to him said they were "incredibly grateful for the overwhelming show of love, support, and prayers" for the blogger's health after he was taken to a Miami hospital on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, audio from emergency services obtained by American media outlets People and Page Six on Wednesday revealed that they responded at 6:51 PM on Tuesday (22:41 GMT) to a "possible suicide" or "attempted suicide" at the 48-year-old's residence in Miami.

Almost four hours later, authorities took him to a hospital after describing the house as "an active police scene."

The American entertainment press reported that videos of the live stream circulated on social media in which, according to those media outlets, Hilton allegedly self-harmed.

The Miami-Dade County Sheriff's Office received several calls about Hilton's live stream on Tuesday night and sent officers to the scene, where they spoke with his family members and confirmed that the communicator was alone in his house.

Hilton began his career in the early 2000s with a popular celebrity gossip blog that offered a biting, unfiltered look at some of Hollywood's most unpleasant moments at a time when the internet and digital photography were just starting to boom.
