Once again, Sergio Mayer has requested an indefinite leave of absence as a federal deputy of the Congress of the Union, which has sparked speculation about a possible appearance on the new season of La Granja VIP.
The letter, shared on social media, was presented on August 19th to the President of the Permanent Commission, Laura Itzel Castillo Juárez. The document states that the Morena politician submitted the request for leave for an "indefinite time and without pay," starting August 31st.

Speculation quickly arose on social media regarding whether the former actor and singer would use this leave to participate in La Granja VIP 2026. The TV Azteca program will begin airing on Sunday, September 6th, and already features several confirmed celebrities, including influencer Kunno and ghost hunter Carlos Trejo.
Earlier this year, Sergio Mayer had already requested leave to vacate his seat in the Chamber of Deputies to participate in Telemundo's La Casa de los Famosos. This led to a suspension of his political rights by the National Commission of Honesty and Justice of Morena, as the former Garibaldi singer "caused a negative impact on Morena's image and generated confusion regarding the coherence between the party's principles and the behavior of its representatives."
At the time, Sergio Mayer revealed to MVS that he joined the reality show La Casa de los Famosos, where he only lasted three weeks, because he needed the money to support his family.
"I made the decision, truly for personal reasons, that's a fact. A personal issue that was, in some way, going to support my family's finances a little. That is the reality."
Although before entering the reality show, he claimed he also did it to send a message about Latin culture, just as Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny did at the Super Bowl.
"Today, the social and political situation with the United States invites us to reflect on our relationship with that country. I am convinced that through new communication channels like reality shows and social media, we can send concrete and powerful messages about the importance of Latin culture; an example of this was Bad Bunny's show at the Super Bowl."
