The Mexican wrestling industry is in mourning after the World Wrestling Council (CMLL) reported the death of ring legend Solar II, but what is known about his death? What happened to him?
According to information provided by his family, professional wrestler Pedro Buenrostro Gómez, popularly known as Solar II, died at the age of 66: "With deep regret and immense sorrow, we announce the passing of Pedro Buenrostro, Solar II, a beloved brother, relative, and friend."
For its part, the CMLL paid tribute to him during the August 23 event at Arena México alongside fans of the sport, invited friends, and colleagues. Amidst a minute of applause, attendees said goodbye to the legend.
"The World Wrestling Council joins in the sorrow that burdens the wrestling family due to the sensitive passing of Mr. Pedro Buenrostro Gómez, Solar II, a distinguished gladiator of Mexican Wrestling, who forged an important career within the rings, leaving an indelible mark on this sport," read the condolences from the CMLL.

According to a second statement made on its social media, the wrestler will be mourned in Guadalajara, Jalisco, today, August 25, starting at 10 am.
In the letter, an invitation was extended to his followers to say goodbye to the legend at San Ramón Funeral Home, Avenida del Chamizal 776, Electricistas. "We lift up a prayer for his eternal rest and send a fraternal embrace to those of us who feel his loss today," the invitation reads.

Who was Solar II, a legend of Mexican wrestling?
Buenrostro Gómez was a famous Mexican wrestler, remembered especially for his technical style and his mastery of ground-based grappling. He was born on October 10, 1959, in Zacoalco de Torres, Jalisco, and began his training under the tutelage of Cuauhtémoc "Diablo" Velasco, who prepared him for his debut in December 1975 at just 16 years old.
Throughout his career, he passed through what was then the Mexican Wrestling Company, later converted into the CMLL; before calling himself Solar II and earning the recognition of his fans, Buenrostro used nicknames like Celeste, Tritón, and El Mariachi.
Among his main achievements are his victories in mask vs. mask matches.
