Enzo Fernández, midfielder for the Argentine national team, highlighted this Monday the effort of the Albiceleste during the World Cup and stressed that the team "always stood tall" and "competed to the max."
"As time passes, you understand that there is something much bigger than a result," expressed Fernández through his Instagram social media profile.
The midfielder, who was sent off late in regulation time during Argentina's 1-0 loss to Spain in the deciding match, made no reference to the red card and added: "This group has been representing us in the best way for years. It teaches that competing isn't just about winning, but about giving everything for the jersey, and never giving up."
Furthermore, he expressed his pride in "being part of this group that always stood tall, that competed to the max, and that defended these colors with pride, humility, and commitment."
"I want to thank all the Argentine fans. Thank you for always being there, for accompanying us in every match, for the affection, for the unconditional support, and for making us feel at home anywhere in the world," added the English Chelsea footballer.
