Passengers needing to travel between Terminal 1 (T1) and Terminal 2 (T2) of the Benito Juárez International Airport of Mexico City (AICM) have a fast, free, and traveler-exclusive option: the Aerotren.
This internal transport system was designed to facilitate flight connections and reduce travel times within the country's main airport.
The Aerotren operates every day of the year between the two AICM terminals. The service is free for connecting passengers and for those with a reservation, electronic ticket, or valid boarding pass for the airline they are flying with. It can also be used by authorized flight and cabin crews.
What is the Aerotren schedule?
According to the official AICM portal, the Aerotren operates daily from 05:00 to 23:00, covering most of the airport's flight operations. Users should consider this schedule when planning connections between terminals, especially for very early or late-night flights.
Who can use it?

For this reason, family members, companions, or visitors without travel documents cannot use the Aerotren and must rely on the ground transportation services available between the two terminals.

Terminal 1
The boarding area is located near Gate 6. Passengers must follow the internal signage leading to the Aerotren access.
Terminal 2
The station is located next to Gate 4, from where the units connecting to Terminal 1 arrive and depart.
Rules for passengers
The AICM notes that the service is free, but there are some rules of use. It is forbidden to consume food and drinks inside the cars, smoke, or travel in an inappropriate state. Likewise, the transport of dogs is only permitted when they are traveling in appropriate cages or carriers and provided that operating conditions allow it.
What to do if you cannot use the Aerotren?
For the general public or those who do not meet the access requirements, the airport offers a bus and metrobús service between terminals. This ground transportation runs between T1 and T2 and includes space for luggage, air conditioning, and facilities for people with reduced mobility. Payment is made directly to the service operator.
