Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum offered federal support this Thursday to the family of musician Jonathan Meléndez, a member of the band Camilo Séptimo, who was murdered on Tuesday in his home alongside his pregnant wife, his three-year-old daughter, a domestic worker, and the family pet.
The crime occurred on Tuesday between 5:30 p.m. (23:30 GMT) and 7:40 p.m. (00:40 GMT +1). Authorities found Meléndez, 38, dead; his wife, 35, who was four months pregnant; their daughter; a 21-year-old domestic worker; and the family pet.

A six-year-old son of the couple was found unharmed inside the property.
In her daily conference at the National Palace, the Mexican president described this mass murder as “very sad” and “lamentable,” assuring that authorities in the central State of Mexico are already providing support to the victims' relatives.
“The families are being supported by the Government of the State of Mexico, and (we will do) whatever we can do from the Ministry of the Interior,” the president stated during her conference in the Mexican capital.
Sheinbaum said she was informed of the case on Wednesday, confirmed that “there are already people in custody,” and maintained that authorities are aware of the causes related to “a dispute the family had with another family,” an element that, she indicated, has already appeared in journalistic reports.
The Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) reported on Wednesday the arrest of Diego Sebastián “N” and Gerardo “N,” who are under investigation for their probable participation in the mass murder that occurred Tuesday in an apartment in Atizapán de Zaragoza, a municipality in the State of Mexico located on the periphery of the capital.
Diego Sebastián was identified by authorities as a business partner of Meléndez and a probable perpetrator of the crime.
According to the preliminary investigation, the suspect allegedly took advantage of his relationship of trust with the musician to enter the residence, while Gerardo is being investigated for his possible involvement.
Federal sources consulted by EFE indicated that the primary line of investigation points to robbery, facilitated by the commercial relationship between the parties.
In parallel, security journalist Carlos Jiménez, known as C4 Jiménez, reported that the meeting between the musician and his partner may have been related to a loan and that the two argued before the attack.
The Prosecutor's Office has not publicly confirmed that detail as the definitive motive, nor has it provided further details on its lines of investigation.
The two detainees remain at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office while investigations continue to clarify the motive and determine their legal status before a competent judge in the State of Mexico.
