A hotel in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is at the center of a controversy after it was revealed that it canceled the reservations of a group of agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) who were planning to use the facilities while in the city for a migration operation. The information was released by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which publicly accused the hotel.
The famous Hilton hotel chain is facing a serious issue after being directly called out by the DHS for canceling the rooms that ICE agents had reserved at its facilities, as reported by the Department of Homeland Security through its official X account, formerly Twitter.

“Hilton hotels have launched a coordinated campaign in Minneapolis to REFUSE service to DHS law enforcement. When officers attempted to book rooms using official government emails and rates, Hilton Hotels MALICIOUSLY CANCELED their reservations,” read the message posted on January 5.
The situation was described by the DHS as “unacceptable,” while questioning: “Why are Hilton Hotels siding with murderers and rapists to undermine and deliberately impede DHS law enforcement from fulfilling their mission to enforce our country’s immigration laws?”
In the shared tweet, the DHS posted screenshots of the cancellation made by the Minneapolis Hilton and the alleged reasons for not allowing them to stay at the property: “We have found information about immigration work connected to your name and we will cancel your upcoming reservation,” the lodging owners wrote; similarly, the message notes that the Hilton hotel allegedly mentioned that they “were not allowing any ICE or immigration agents to stay at their property.”
For its part, the Hilton chain told Univision that it was investigating the incident, while noting that its hotels “are welcoming places for everyone” and that “the mentioned actions do not reflect Hilton’s values.”
According to reports, the ICE agents were scheduled to stay at the establishment while carrying out a migration operation in the Minneapolis area. The cancellation has sparked a debate on social media regarding the hotel's role in the face of immigration enforcement agency actions.
