President Donald Trump insisted on Monday that his relationship with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is "very good," despite the fact that the Israeli leader rejected the plan for Gaza promoted by the United States.
"The relationship is very good," said Trump in response to a question asked by a journalist at the end of an event in the Oval Office.
The Israeli prime minister had been increasing criticism for more than a week of the plan announced by Trump at the end of July, which contemplates the disarmament of Hamas and the Israeli withdrawal from Palestinian territory.
"Israel rejects the 15-point document," Netanyahu said this Sunday at a cabinet meeting.
Israeli forces "will not carry out any withdrawal until Hamas is truly disarmed and will continue to neutralize threats against our forces and our citizens," he declared.
Relations between both leaders went through a period of tension a few months ago.
In very virulent terms, Trump reproached Netanyahu in April for having undermined negotiations with a view to a ceasefire with Iran.
