Suspension of classes in Baja California
Due to the instructions of the State Civil Protection Council, Baja California Sur will suspend school and administrative work in private and public schools, as well as schools incorporated into the SEP, in the five municipalities of the state on Monday and Tuesday, September 29.
Suspension of classes in Sonora
For its part, in Sonora, the SEP is suspending in-person school activities in public and private schools at all educational levels following the schedule below:

Because Polo will also affect Sinaloa, the state department has suspended in-person classes at all educational levels as a preventive measure.
Polo will make landfall this Monday afternoon
The measures applied by the state public education departments and Civil Protection are based on weather warnings regarding the approach of Hurricane Polo, a category 3 on the Saffir-Simpson scale.
Reports from the National Meteorological System of Conagua indicate that Polo is about to hit the Mexican Pacific coast. It is estimated that it could make landfall at 4:00 PM this Monday over Baja California Sur.
Fabián Vázquez, head of the meteorological service, told AFP that a “very severe” impact is expected, causing effects such as the destruction of wooden houses or houses with sheet metal roofs, fallen trees, power outages, and road closures, as well as high surf and flooding.
Among other effects, according to Civil Protection, Polo could cause partial destruction of houses, coastal buildings, and piers, storm surges that flood coastal areas, and signs being damaged and blown away by the wind.
According to the meteorological forecast, Polo is expected to weaken to a category 1 hurricane over Sonora by the morning of Tuesday the 29th and become post-tropical by the afternoon.
