The controversy surrounding the premiere of the Timbiriche series and the topics covered in the first episodes, such as the relationship Luis de Llano had with Sasha Sokol when she was a minor, seems to have no end.
In a recent interview shared by the outlet TVNotas, De Llano’s half-sister, Cecilia Fuentes, gave her opinion on the relationship both figures maintained at the beginning of the group and said that there was nothing “ill-intentioned or abusive” and that her brother simply “crossed the line.” What else did she say? We’ll give you all the details below.
The writer defended her brother, although she acknowledged that he should not have gotten involved with the young singer, who was 14 at the time while he was 39, and said that, even though she didn’t like the first episodes, this series has portrayed what happened with De Llano and Sokol well.
“I know the relationship between the man and the girl was neither ill-intentioned nor abusive. It deviated, it simply went down the path it did because she was very lost,” she noted, revealing that Sasha was not going through a good time back then, with a mother who was allegedly an alcoholic and who did not give her the attention she needed.

Later in the interview, Cecilia Fuentes stated that her brother “crossed the line,” but that he was always by Sasha’s side to take care of her: “He shouldn’t have done what he did and he crossed the line, but he fell into temptation, and just as men see women, that is how Luis sees the girl in the series.”
“For the first time I see someone tell it a little bit like it was (...) He tried to protect her, yes, things got off track and he shouldn’t have done the things he did, but at the end of the day (...) Her mom was never there,” she said, adding that she never saw Sasha’s mother with her and knew she was “an alcoholic who doesn’t take care of her, who doesn’t pay attention to her.”
Regarding the rumors that Sasha was taking money from De Llano, Fuentes denied that the young woman needed money, as her stepfather was a Televisa executive, “she needed affection, but she was from a very rich family.”
Cecilia Fuentes was “horrified” by the Timbiriche series and defended the singers.
Elsewhere in the interview, Cecilia said she was “horrified” after the first two episodes.
“I watched the two episodes and I was quite horrified by the quality, by how ugly all the actors are, by how poorly written it is, how poorly produced it is. Everything is dark, everything is cheap, everything is ugly, everyone is the wrong age, both the children and the adults,” Fuentes pointed out, noting that Luis de Llano’s family had been “instructed” not to watch it or discuss the topic at home.
The writer sided with the members of Timbiriche, who rejected the production and the way it was made without their consent and without their input on how the stories told in the series occurred.
“The Timbiriches are right to say that they had nothing to do with it and that they weren’t asked. And it’s the truth, nobody asked them anything and they didn’t say anything, and they have every right to be upset, especially after seeing the trash that I saw,” she remarked.
Despite the criticism of how she saw the first episodes, Fuentes admitted not knowing firsthand everything that happened with the singers or the details of her half-brother’s relationship with Sasha because she was not in Mexico during the 80s, when the group’s boom occurred.
According to her, she only knew what she saw and what she experienced when she attended their rehearsals, but “the story is very poorly told, the jumble of children, the ages, and the order in which things happen is totally out of sync.”
Luis de Llano’s sister highlighted other inaccuracies, such as how her sister Julissa was shown in the series, “always in the kitchen, she doesn’t even know the kitchen in her own house. The only time she went through the kitchen, she fell and broke her hip (...) The actress they cast, they had no restraint (...) she was gorgeous. They went and put a lady in a very strange, very ugly orange wig, she looks like Bozo,” she stated.
