The controversy won't stop! Melania Trump reportedly came to the defense of Natalie Harp, Donald Trump's star assistant, amid the attention generated by the strange relationship between the two, which has even been rumored to be romantic. What did the First Lady of the United States say? Are they friends now?
According to recent reports, the First Lady, through her chief advisor Marc Beckman, has responded to speculation about the alleged affair between the president and his assistant, as well as the role she plays in the midst of the controversy, and has asked for an end to the “gossip” that has gone viral.
Beckman asserted that the media knows nothing about the private life of the presidential family and maintained that attention should be focused on Melania Trump's achievements during her husband's second term, instead of fueling rumors about the aide.
“The liberal media is ridiculous. They know nothing about the personal and private life of the First Lady,” Melania's advisor noted on social media shortly after it was revealed that Donald Trump allegedly gave $45,000 to his communications assistant.
“They don't even bother to put us on air to talk about these incredible achievements that our First Lady has accomplished during this presidential administration,” Beckman noted.
In addition to this, the First Lady's assistant also directly defended Harp, whom he described as a “hardworking, talented, and intelligent” person: “What they should do is look in the mirror, because they are all attacking this very hardworking, talented, and intelligent person who is Natalie Harp.”
“And they are obsessed with gossip about this first family. And I can tell you firsthand that it is time for them to become journalists and stop paying attention to gossip,” he urged.
Ever since the president's closeness with his assistant first drew attention, media outlets and internet users have claimed that there is much more than a working relationship between the two figures, especially because Harp's brother, Preston Harp, told CNN that his sister had a certain obsession with presidents, especially Donald Trump. Furthermore, Natalie herself wrote letters to the president where she demonstrated her support and admiration, indicating that he means everything to her.
A few days ago, the $45,000 gift put Harp back in the spotlight. According to financial statements from the Trump administration cited by The Washington Post, the president gave $45,000 to Harp as a “holiday cash gift.” Two other aides, Margo Martin and Chamberlain Harris, also received the same amount each, for a total of $135,000.
Regarding the relationship Natalie has with Melania, it has been reported that the First Lady is not happy that the assistant is always next to Trump and it has also been claimed that she prefers to keep her away.
