Presley Gerber, son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, was admitted to a rehabilitation center in Cancun, Mexico, before he died at the age of 27.
As revealed by Presley himself on social media, he traveled to the Mexican southwest to receive treatment with ibogaine, a psychedelic drug used to treat substance abuse and other dependencies.

The model arrived in Cancun six months ago seeking help because ibogaine is illegal in the United States.
On Instagram, Gerber spoke openly about substance abuse and the deterioration of his mental health. In one of his last posts, the model detailed that he would undergo ibogaine treatment and expressed the terror he had been feeling regarding his addiction issues.
“Pre-ibogaine dose: a moment of peace before everything changed. I faced what I had been running from, and in the midst of it all, I started to find my way back to myself,” wrote Gerber under a video where he was shown in a pre-treatment ritual.
“I was absolutely terrified, and I knew I would be again if I ever had to face something like this (it’s hard not to think about the situations that lead you there, but that’s life sometimes). (My mantras were: love yourself and this has to be the last time for this reason. Letting go of control wasn't easy, but I trusted that there was something bigger than me guiding it. I knew why I was there. I faced what I had been running from, and in the midst of it all, I started to find my way back to myself. We shall see… I pray it is the last time I have to return. Next time I would like to be able to choose,” he added.
In the comments, his mother and sister, model Kaia Gerber, expressed their support and love. While Cindy described him as “a warrior who walked through fire” to find himself, Kaia said she was “proud” of her older brother.
What is the ibogaine that Presley Gerber used to heal his addictions?
Cindy Crawford's son turned to ibogaine during his battle with addiction. It is a psychoactive substance obtained from the root of the African shrub Tabernanthe iboga, which has been studied for its potential applications for opioid dependence and certain traumatic brain injuries.
The model had spoken publicly about his addiction to opioids and prescription drug dependency.
In 2024, he revealed that he had consulted with more than 15 psychiatrists and had received different medications, according to his story, without a structured recovery plan. Later, he also spoke about the use of drugs like antidepressants and Xanax to treat panic attacks.
Presley was in a rehabilitation center whose location was not disclosed when he died on Sunday, according to initial reports. The circumstances of his death are still under investigation; as of now, an autopsy had not yet been performed.
