Fátima Bosch has already handed over her crown as beauty queen, but she remains in the midst of controversy. After passing her title to María Vargas as Miss Universe Mexico, Fátima was a topic of conversation for Lupita Jones before the press, who described her reign as “disastrous” and quite media-driven.
Jones took stock of Fátima Bosch's reign and acknowledged that the period was surrounded by controversies and enormous media pressure; she also asked not to make comparisons between the Tabasco native and the new miss.

“I think the circumstances surrounding Fátima's reign were defined by the media. What was around her was disastrous (...) I think she tried to do her best, but her circumstances, what surrounded her, were not the best, and that is what turned her reign into one of the most media-focused, and on many occasions, not with good comments,” noted the former beauty queen.
“We are not a center for gossip, we are not a cradle of scandals, which is what the pageants have become at this moment. The truth is that this is very depressing for those of us who work in a serious and professional manner,” she added.

Regarding how Bosch faced media attention and controversies, Jones considered that becoming a public figure practically overnight is not easy and requires maturity to face the exposure, saying that the Tabasco native should have sought help to handle the crises.
“It is very complicated to become a public figure overnight (...) It is very difficult; overnight your life changes completely, and you have to assume that with responsibility, with maturity, and if you don't have it, there should be people with you to help you.”
In addition to these statements, Jones joked that no queen can lose her crown “if she wears it properly.”

It should be remembered that at the beginning of her reign, Fátima Bosch was the target of criticism and mockery for having won Miss Universe, and her detractors requested that the crown and the title be taken away from her because she did not deserve it.
Likewise, during her year as queen, followers of the international competition and Lupita Jones herself cast doubt on Fátima's deserving the title. Even in an intervention on 'Mesa Caliente', Jones insinuated that Bosch and her controversies "denigrated" the work that had been done with the organization.
Regarding the new Miss Universe Mexico, María Vargas, Lupita Jones expressed her support and defended her budding reign: “I know her because she participated with me first. She is an experienced girl; honestly, I wish her the best. It is up to her to act, to walk her own path, and to make her own history. It is impossible for us to want to compare ourselves with one another.”
