The biometric CURP is emerging as an essential document that, starting in 2026, will be indispensable for carrying out various government, banking, and service-related procedures. Its main difference from the previous version lies in the incorporation of security elements and the holder's biometric data, such as fingerprints, iris scan, and a facial photograph.
A sector of the population that has shown interest in obtaining their biometric CURP is the older adult demographic, as they state they may need it for procedures related to their pension.
Requisitos para tramitar la CURP biométrica 2026 si eres adulto mayor
Older adults interested in obtaining their biometric CURP must present the following official requirements:
- CURP certificada (Copia).
- Acta de nacimiento (sólo para personas de 0 a 18 años) (Copia).
- Identificación oficial (INE, pasaporte, Cartilla Militar, cédula profesional, credencial escolar, credencial del ISSSTE, credencial del IMSS, credencial expedida por la Secretaría de Bienestar (Original).
Remember that the procedure is completely free and must be carried out at the service modules designated by the corresponding authorities.
¿Cómo obtener la CURP biométrica si eres adulto mayor?
The process is as follows:
-Locate your module: in the following link you can do so, simply select the state where you live.
-Show up with the requested documents.
-Authorities will capture the biometric data.
-Once the data is verified and the biometrics are captured, the applicant will receive their new biometric CURP format digitally.
¿Cuándo será obligatoria la CURP biométrica?
Authorities have not announced that the biometric CURP will be mandatory in 2026, so it remains a voluntary procedure for anyone who wishes to obtain the digital document.
