This Wednesday, the United States Department of State (DOS) announced a 25 million dollar reward for information leading to the capture of Juan Carlos González, alias "El Pelón," identified by U.S. authorities as the successor to Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias "El Mencho," leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), according to information from AP and EFE.
In addition to "El Pelón," the Department of State reported that it will offer rewards of between 10 and 15 million dollars for information leading to the capture of other leaders of the CJNG, which has been designated as a terrorist group by the Donald Trump administration.

Juan Carlos González, alias "El Pelón" or "El 03," is identified by U.S. authorities as the current leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), following the death of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, "El Mencho," during a military operation carried out in Mexico last February.
It is believed that his ties to organized crime are related to his family background. "El Pelón" is the son of Armando Valencia Cornelio, alias "El Maradona" or "El Juanito," co-founder of the Milenio Cartel, and Rosalinda González Valencia, ex-wife of "El Mencho" and considered a financial operator for the CJNG.
According to various sources, it was through his mother's marriage to Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes that Juan Carlos González became his stepson.
According to InSight Crime, the DEA links him to activities related to international drug trafficking and the supervision of cocaine and methamphetamine shipments.
