Well-known American blogger Perez Hilton had to be taken to a hospital after police were alerted that the celebrity news reporter was allegedly self-harming on a live broadcast.

¿Qué le pasó a Perez Hilton?

According to local media, local police went to the blogger's Miami home after receiving reports about a disturbing live stream in which Hilton, covered in blood, appeared to be self-harming, Variety confirmed.

According to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), "in explicit videos shared on social media, Hilton can be seen looking frantic, covered in blood and repeatedly cutting himself with an object."

The Miami-Dade County Sheriff's Office received several calls regarding Hilton's live stream on Tuesday night and sent several officers to the scene.

Once there, the officers spoke with several of Hilton's family members. Authorities confirmed that the communicator, an expert on Hollywood celebrity news and gossip, was alone in his home during the broadcast.

Subsequently, officers were ordered to leave the area but to continue monitoring the situation, Variety reports.

The Miami-Dade County Sheriff's Office also confirmed that Hilton was transported safely from his home to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical care.

“In many incidents involving a person suffering a mental health crisis or self-harming, officers prioritize de-escalation by creating time, distance and opportunities for communication,” the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office stated in a release obtained by Variety.

“Unless there is an immediate threat to others, calming the situation and using crisis intervention techniques can reduce the likelihood of an encounter with an officer attempting suicide and minimize the risk of injury to the person, officers and the public,” it added.

¿QUIÉN ES PEREZ HILTON?

Hilton began his career in the early 2000s, running a popular celebrity gossip blog that offered a biting, unfiltered look at some of Hollywood's most unpleasant moments.

Earlier this year, Hilton shared in a lengthy Instagram video that he was hospitalized for three weeks after initially battling the flu, before developing “an ulcer, then a perforation, and then sepsis,” he stated at the time, recalls THR.

Once he was discharged and returned home, Hilton said he had time to reflect and realized that “God manifested Himself to me” during that difficult experience, the magazine adds.

“It was real and it has changed my life. I am so grateful,” he added at the time. “I am excited to start taking the kids to church every week. And to know that God is real… I don’t need to have hope to believe. Now I know.”
