Almost three months after the Sinaloa Attorney General's Office arrested Omar Chávez, son of Julio César Chávez, for aggravated domestic violence, details of the complaint filed by his wife, Denys Chantal Corona Rodríguez, have emerged. What happened? Here are the details.
According to Chantal's testimony and the photographs included in the file, she accused Omar of aggravated domestic violence, illegal deprivation of liberty, and assault. Additionally, she alleged he inflicted multiple beatings that caused visible injuries to her arms, torso, and face. Furthermore, she reported that she was held against her will for 13 days.
The violence allegedly began more than a year ago, in March 2025, when Chantal went to the authorities after leaving the home where, according to her account, she had been assaulted.
In recent revelations, Chantal maintains that the violence began amid problems related to Omar's substance use, especially Itravil, an anorexigenic medication, and his gambling addiction. According to her complaint, the boxer forced her to ask for money from family, friends, and acquaintances to finance these activities and buy more medication.
The first assault she describes occurred in March 2025 and ended with her severely beaten. After escaping that home, she left behind clothes and belongings because, in her own words, at that moment, all she cared about was being safe and away from the boxer. However, she states that the initial complaint did not lead to precautionary measures or immediate action against Julio César Chávez's son.
“The first time he assaulted me was when he made me ask my relatives for money; he forced me to do it with acquaintances and friends to gamble it and buy more medication,” cites Reforma.
The case reportedly escalated in May 2025, when Chantal reported that two men allegedly sent by Omar Chávez tried to force her to drop her accusations. During this time, Chantal remained deprived of her liberty for 13 days, suffered assaults, and was threatened with being murdered and buried: “They even had a plan to bury me in a pit,” she said.
The 27-year-old woman claimed she managed to escape when she ordered food through an app and took advantage of the delivery person's arrival to leave the premises and ask for help. Although she stated that Chávez chased and caught up to her, a woman passing through the area helped her get to the General Hospital of Culiacán.
However, Chantal recounted that the boxer's mother arrived at the hospital and allegedly removed her before she received medical attention. Finally, on May 26, 2025, she went with her sister to file a complaint against Omar Chávez for aggravated domestic violence, illegal deprivation of liberty, and assault.
It was not until May 20, 2026, that the domestic violence case moved forward; it was reported that the boxer was arrested after attending a court hearing at the public security complex in Aguaruto, Sinaloa.
At the time, it was reported that Chávez had accumulated contempt of court charges before being arrested at the local courthouse. Apparently, the authorities modified the precautionary measures regarding the accumulation of summons, and his immediate arrest and preventive detention at the Aguaruto Penitentiary Center were ordered.
Along with her statements and the publication of certain documents and photographs of the case, Chantal detailed that Omar was waiting for the process to end so he could find her and hurt her.
A few days ago, in an interview with Reforma, Chantal said she “feared” for her life, as she has received death threats from Julio César Chávez's son and those around him.
“I fear for my life and my safety because the person who assaulted me is free under conditional suspension of the process, even though I did not grant a pardon. I want justice, for him to pay with jail time. I don't want fame or money,” she told the media.
