Javier "Chicharito" Hernández once again stirred controversy with his statements about his personal life, as the Mexican striker spoke about the consequences he has faced following his divorce from Sarah Kohan and, among them, highlighted both the financial impact and the distance he maintains from his two children. The player affirmed that he gives them a "stratospherically millionaire" life and, even so, he does not see them.

On his podcast "Learning to be human," Chicharito decided to break the silence and share some of the situations he believes have marked his personal life in recent years: the separation from his ex-wife Sarah Kohan and the current estrangement from his children.

First, he asserted that every year he must face a millionaire debt, and this is due to the amount he provides for his children, Noah, seven, and Nala, five, who do not live with him, but whom he ensures he takes care of and makes sure they lack nothing.

"Since my divorce, I have to start every year with a millionaire debt that I have to pay annually, which people don't see. Now, in my divorce, I already conceded, it was accepted, and we are trying to improve it, so that the children will never lack anything; they have never lacked absolutely anything," the player stated.

However, he said that he placed his trust in the wrong person, and that harmed his finances: "But I trusted in a way that people took advantage of a very painful situation," he specified.

Subsequently, he recounted that his children live on another continent, so daily interaction is not possible. He even explained that calls can become complicated when he is working.

"Add to that that my children go to live on another continent and I can't do anything about it. And every year I start with a debt that I have to make money for just to auction off this debt I have there—which I call a debt, it's nothing more—that I have to auction off, and then see how I manage my own life," he commented.

Finally, he said that although he fulfills his obligations as a father and gives his children's mother a large amount of money for their support, he cannot see them as he would like. "And I have to be auctioning off a stratospherically millionaire life for them, which is not the problem; the problem is that nobody talks about this (..) about all this debt that I already have, simply because a person says 'well, this is the minimum and that's it,' because I already agreed to it and I am stuck, and besides the lawyers' fees (...) imagine all that pressure," he mentioned.

What happened between Chicharito and Sarah Kohan?

Javier Hernández and Sarah Kohan began their relationship in 2018 and married in 2019. Later, they had their two children. The couple eventually separated, and the divorce concluded in 2021. For several years, both avoided speaking publicly about the reasons for the breakup.

However, in 2026, Chicharito began to reveal more details about that period and acknowledged that the process was complicated both emotionally and personally.

Last August, Hernández explained that he believes both parties were responsible for the failure of the relationship. He also spoke about his own perception of the role he played within his marriage and acknowledged that he was going through personal problems when he started his family. The footballer has described that separation as one of the most painful experiences of his life, but also as a process from which he gained lessons.

Is Chicharito Hernández still playing soccer?

Yes. In July 2026, Javier Hernández joined Atlético Dallas, a team in the USL Championship in the United States.
