The story between Emma Coronel and Joaquín El Chapo Guzmán is a topic rarely discussed, yet it remains one of the most curiosity-inducing, especially due to the circumstances in which it occurred and the criminal context surrounding it.
During a special guest appearance on a livestream by content creators Willito and Lonche de Huevito, the model spoke about how she met the kingpin, whom she married shortly after at 18 years old, when El Chapo was nearly 50. What did Emma Coronel share? We detail it below.
According to the social media celebrity, she and the leader of the Sinaloa Cartel met at a party at a ranch that they both attended. While it is said that it was love at first sight for Guzmán, for Emma it was not; in fact, she recounted that the drug lord thought she had flirted with him just because she smiled by coincidence when he was looking at her.
“He was dancing with a girl and I was dancing with another guy (...) He thinks that I smiled at him, but I smiled because I was dancing with a friend who is gay and you know (...) and we stopped at the same time, we ended up facing each other and he thinks I was smiling at him,” she narrated.

She added that a while later, El Chapo approached her “very respectfully” to ask if they could dance together: “He said: ‘Can I dance with you?’ Meaning if I would do him the favor of dancing with him, but very nice”.
After that encounter, El Patrón, as he was known within the cartel, began to court her, sending large quantities of flowers, bringing serenades, and being “very gentlemanly and thoughtful”.
In addition to the story of how they met, Emma revealed that their wedding was “very private with close relatives” at a ranch in the mountains with difficult access, without luxuries or musical groups; she stated it was a “family wedding.” The ceremony took place a year after they met.
After their wedding, Emma and Joaquín Guzmán welcomed their twins, Emali Guadalupe and María Joaquina, in 2011; recently, the model celebrated their 15th birthday with a family dinner that included haute couture dresses by April Black Diamond, as documented by the brand itself on Instagram.
The twins are the youngest daughters of the kingpin known to the public. It is currently known that they live with her in California. In the same live stream, Emma revealed that their baptism was indeed a big, luxurious event, with musical guests like Banda el Recodo and Los Tigres del Norte.
Addressing the revelations made during the live stream, Emma said she would like to tell her version of the relationship she had with El Chapo through a film. She also claimed that all the stories told publicly about her and her husband are false and based on comments and testimonies from people who are not even close to her.
In fact, she referred to the book *Emma and the Other Women of the Narco*, written by journalist Anabel Hernández, which narrates her life and ties to the drug trade within the Sinaloa Cartel. Without mentioning names or titles, Coronel affirmed that what is told in the book is far from the truth.
