Four women have accused American actor and musician Jared Leto, an Oscar winner and lead singer of the band '30 Seconds to Mars', of criminal sexual conduct when they were teenagers, according to a documentary by the BBC.
The program, which will air tonight on the British broadcaster, is titled "Jared Leto: Hollywood's Dark Secret" and features several women claiming that the 54-year-old actor engaged in inappropriate sexual behavior with them.
According to the BBC, the incidents reportedly took place between 2002 and 2016, when the actor was between 30 and 40 years old.
The women accuse him of sexual assault and statutory rape, as well as the use of explicit and inappropriate language toward teenagers, according to the documentary, which also includes testimonies from two people who worked with Leto's band.
Specifically, one of the women claimed to have suffered a sexual assault in a motel bathroom when she was 17, while another recounted that the Hollywood star threatened her with sexual assault when she was 19, after unexpectedly being left alone with him in a hotel room.
A third described having sexual relations with the star in California when she was 17, which would be legally classified as sexual abuse of a minor, and a fourth woman said she was manipulated by Leto, as the actor used his fame to make repeated, sexually explicit phone calls to her when she was 16.
The broadcaster claims to have seen photos and messages that support the women's stories, as well as testimonies corroborated by friends and family.
Leto has had a prominent acting career since the 1990s and won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for the film 'Dallas Buyers Club'.
His rock band, '30 Seconds to Mars', was formed in 1998 and is known for hits such as 'The Kill', 'Kings and Queens', and 'This Is War'.
The BBC states that it attempted to contact the actor, but he has not responded to the allegations.
