The story of Inés Gómez Mont took an unexpected turn: from being one of the hosts of Ventaneando to becoming one of the most sought-after figures by Mexican authorities.
Her departure from Pati Chapoy's program in February 2009 was surrounded by rumors about an alleged punishment and a workplace feud, but the explanation given at the time was her high-risk pregnancy. Now, more than 17 years later, her name is back in the headlines after being arrested in Miami, Florida, and placed in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Inés began her career at TV Azteca in the news department and later participated in the show Los 25+, a space that allowed her to catch the attention of Pati Chapoy to occupy a spot on Ventaneando, alongside figures such as Daniel Bisogno, Pedro Sola, and Mónica Garza. The host debuted on the entertainment show in August 2006.

Her spontaneous personality and her comments in front of the cameras made her one of the recognizable faces of that stage of the show, although her tenure ended sooner than expected, in less than three years.

The controversy began in January 2009, when it was revealed that she was pregnant. The news had been first released on Maxine Woodside's radio show, Todo para la mujer, which fueled versions that Pati Chapoy had been upset about not having the exclusive on Ventaneando and had "punished" her by removing her from the show.
However, on February 13 of that year, it was reported that Inés had actually resigned after speaking with Chapoy because she was facing a high-risk pregnancy. Doctors had ordered her to stay on absolute bed rest to avoid complications, she said.
Years later, the host herself debunked the rumors of an alleged enmity with the program and its lead host; in fact, she recalled her time on Ventaneando with gratitude in January 2018, during a video call for the show's anniversary, and called Pati Chapoy her "best teacher," in addition to describing her as a kind of mother to her.

Arrest of Inés Gómez Mont in Miami, will she be extradited to Mexico?
Gómez Mont became a topic of conversation again on October 30, 2026, when the Attorney General's Office (FGR) confirmed that she had been arrested in Miami as a result of an exchange of information with the United States government.
The former host had remained a fugitive from Mexican justice since 2021 and, according to records consulted by national media, was placed under ICE custody at the Broward Transitional Center, located in Pompano Beach, Florida, near Miami.
Her detention does not mean she has already been extradited to Mexico or that she is officially in the middle of the process.
The judicial case she faces along with her husband, businessman Víctor Manuel Álvarez Puga, is related to allegations of organized crime, embezzlement, and operations with resources of illicit origin.
Authorities are investigating an alleged scheme of shell companies and embezzlement of public funds that reportedly reached around 3 billion pesos. In addition, the FGR confirmed that Gómez Mont has an active arrest warrant for her probable participation in the crime of equivalent tax fraud.
