Yanet García trended on social media after confronting Galilea Montijo and Marie Claire following her exit from La Casa de los Famosos for being "furniture on the reality show." What happened? Here are all the details.
The model and television host was present at the La Casa de los Famosos nomination gala, one day after having been eliminated by the decision of the housemates, a different format from the conventional dynamic where the public has the final say on who is saved and who leaves.
Speaking about the decisions made regarding her time on the reality show, Yanet confronted Montijo and the production team, pointing out that her exit was at the hands of her fellow contestants and not the public, as had been portrayed.
“It was a very different elimination, one I didn't expect because, as they say here: ‘The public has the final word,’ and on this occasion, in my case, that wasn't the case... the decision was made by my housemates (...) That’s how the game goes, and it happened to me”.
In response to this comment about who was responsible for taking her out of the program, Galilea insisted that the decision was made by the public and the housemates after she and two other companions were sent to exile for being “furniture,” which sparked controversy between the two figures.
“I’m going to tell you something, Yanet. It’s that Yanet hasn’t been given any of her social media access, she hasn’t seen her people. Guess what? I’m going to give you this news, because the decision was indeed shared. Three of all the housemates living in the house were driven to exile by the public, and then the housemates cast votes one by one,” Montijo pointed out.
The model highlighted that the new dynamic did not allow her to be voted on by the public, so her exit was purely at the hands of the housemates: “That’s why I say the final decision for my exit wasn't the public, it was my housemates. The nomination, let’s say, there were three of us, but they didn’t take us to a nomination”.
Prior to this clash, Galilea Montijo was criticized on social media for “humiliating” Yanet García and mocking her participation in LCDLF by calling her “furniture”: “I’d rather be the first one eliminated from LCDLF than be called ‘furniture.’ I’d rather go home and cry”.
Yanet García confronts Marie Claire
After confronting Galilea about the new dynamics, Yanet García also had a conversation with host Marie Claire, in which she expressed her dissatisfaction at not having had the opportunity to be voted for alongside her companions in exile, Luis Chaparro and Ese Pérez.
“Still processing this exit, which is different from what we are used to seeing. I trusted my public, my people a lot because they brought me back twice, but this elimination was very different and I wasn’t eliminated by the people, but by my housemates”.
Upon commenting on this, Marie Claire told her that her exit didn't happen the way she imagined in her “little head” and that they needed to talk about it. “We have to talk because it’s not how you have it in your little head, so don’t go imagining crazy things”.
Regarding the controversy, journalist Jorge Carvajal suggested that Yanet could sue the production of La Casa de los Famosos for “moral damages,” because during her last days on the program, she experienced “humiliations” by the reality show. So far, the model has not mentioned anything about the matter.
