Amidst the stir caused by alleged match-fixing in favor of Argentina by FIFA and Gianni Infantino during the current World Cup, journalist José Ramón accused them of alleged corruption.
During a recent interview with Yordi Rosado, the sports journalist stated that there has always been “a great deal of corruption” within Mexican soccer, just as there is in international soccer, especially at the World Cup.
When Yordi asked if there are countries that have won a Cup corruptly, Joserra claimed that it has happened and cited Qatar 2022 as an example, where Argentina won in the final played against France.
It is worth remembering that in that final, France and Argentina drew 3-3, but the South American country became world champion for the third time after a penalty shootout that ended with a score of 4-2.

“Yes. The problem in Qatar was Argentina. Every time Messi fell, it was a penalty,” said the sports journalist. “FIFA is so smart. Infantino, who gave the peace prize to Donald Trump, created a divide. On one side were the Europeans, and on the other were the CONMEBOL teams along with some other European and African ones,” he noted.
He added, predicting that there will be more opportunities for African football in the future: “Anyway, the Africans are even more divided. The Asians have lost ground, Korea and Japan have lost ground, but Africa has gained tremendously. We will soon see an African world champion.”
The statements by José Ramón Fernández have gone viral ahead of the 2026 World Cup final, where it has been speculated on social media and in the international press that FIFA and its director, Infantino, are doing everything possible to hand the cup to Lionel Messi’s Argentina.
It has been claimed that the majority of the matches played by the 'Albiceleste' have had inconsistencies, such as penalties that were not penalties, red cards against opposing teams, as well as fouls and red cards not called against Argentina, mainly regarding Messi, and even refereeing assistance.
Within the context of these inconsistencies, reported by several teams like Egypt and Switzerland, it is speculated that Infantino and FIFA are determined to get Argentina to the final for economic and marketing reasons, as Messi is one of the players who generates the most money for the tournament in general and earns the most for the federation.
