The Mexican National Team striker had an outstanding participation in the 2026 World Cup, where he recorded four goals and one assist. Thanks to that performance, he earned a spot in the FIFA Top 10 by placing in eighth position, ahead of the England captain, Harry Kane, who appears in tenth place.

According to the official FIFA website, for this edition of the World Cup, "a new individual player classification system based on data collected during matches" was implemented.
As the organization explains, this system offers "an objective assessment of players' performance based on data."
To rate the performance of outfield players, FIFA evaluates three aspects of their performance: attack, creativity, and defense. In each of these categories, players receive a score from 0 to 10.
FIFA defines these criteria as follows:

- Creatividad: combinar una excelente visión de juego con una ejecución precisa que posibilite el ataque.
- Defensa: anticipar situaciones de peligro y ejecutar acciones defensivas fundamentales.

Julián Quiñones was not the only player from the Mexican National Team to stand out in the 2026 World Cup. FIFA also recognized midfielder Roberto "Piojo" Alvarado as one of the best players in the creativity category, placing him in tenth position in the ranking.
The "Piojo" Alvarado obtained a score of 7.14, the same as Spaniards Álex Baena and Dani Olmo, who appear in eighth and ninth place in the ranking, respectively.
