Traveling on a Disney cruise goes beyond enjoying "all-inclusive" plans. Its ships are carefully designed to offer experiences that convey the magic of their films and characters.
This is the case for the Disney Wish ship. It was launched in 2022 and quickly became a passenger favorite due to its Cinderella-inspired lobby, Frozen-themed restaurant, and the beautiful Rapunzel sculpture that adorns the stern.
What is the Disney Wish itinerary?
The Disney Wish ship has a capacity of 4,000 passengers. For now, it has 3- and 4-night itineraries through the Caribbean. It departs from Port Canaveral and sails toward Nassau and Castaway Cay, Disney's private island in the Bahamas.
However, for 2027 it will debut itineraries in Europe, with routes ranging from 3 to 10 nights. It is expected to set sail from Barcelona and have stops in Hellesylt, Norway; Trieste and Venice in Italy; and Zadar, Croatia.
Is a visa needed to travel on a Disney cruise?
When the cruise starts, ends, or makes a stop at a U.S. port, you do need a visa. You will be asked for your B1/B2 tourist visa if the cruise departs from a United States city, even if the ports of call are in another country. You also need it if you will disembark there or if you visit a U.S. city during your trip.
Depending on that, you can fly to Orlando International Airport (MCO), Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), or Miami International Airport (MIA). Afterward, travel by taxi to reach the ports. It is recommended to stay at a nearby hotel the day before.
What is included in the Disney Wish cruise and what is not?
Almost all food and drinks are included in your Disney Cruise Line package. Of course, this also includes your stateroom and use of the ship's pools and play areas.
However, all alcoholic beverages you consume have an extra cost, and consumption will be charged to your room account (you must always provide credit card details). Consumption in clubs, bars, and luxury restaurants also has an extra cost. You will have to pay for spa services.
Themed restaurants aboard the Disney Wish
One of the main attractions for booking with Disney Cruise Line is that its ships have themed restaurants. Furthermore, because of their rotational dining system, you will dine at all of them during your stay. If you happen to repeat a restaurant, the menu changes completely. The servers who assist you are the same each night, which creates a special bond and personalized service.
Arendelle: Recreates settings and a music, dance, and acting show inspired by Frozen. You will see Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, and Olaf while you enjoy delicious dishes based on Norwegian cuisine. There are spectacular soups, pastas, desserts, and cuts of meat.
Worlds of Marvel: It is totally immersive. You will have an interactive Quantum Core on your table to shrink and grow objects during an action-packed mission. The best moment is when Spiderman makes a tour around the tables.
1923: The restaurant is named after the year The Walt Disney Company was founded. You will feel welcomed in a space that celebrates the art of illustration with character sketches, scripts, and props. The food is fantastic and we could say it is the most elegant restaurant of the three.
Other dining areas on the Disney Wish
Marceline Market: This is the ship's buffet. It serves American breakfasts and lunches where you can try the famous Mickey Waffles. It has stations for coffee, juice, soda, desserts, bread, fruits, and vegetables. It is named after Marceline, the Missouri town where Walt Disney was born.
Mickey & Friends Festival of Foods: On the deck, you will find snacks and delicious food to enjoy while gazing at the ocean or relaxing in the pool. Try BBQ food at Mickey’s Smokestack Barbecue; tacos and rice bowls at Donald’s Cantina; incredible pizzas at Daisy’s Pizza Pies; burgers, fries, hot dogs, and chicken tenders at Goofy’s Grill; and all the ice cream you want at Sweet Minnie’s Ice Cream.
For an extra cost, you can also buy desserts at Inside Out: Joyful Sweets or have specialty coffee at The Wishing Star Café.
Broadway-style theater productions
Daily theater plays are held in the Walt Disney Theatre at 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. They last approximately one hour, and the stories are inspired by Disney films. On this ship, currently on stage are The Little Mermaid, Disney Seas The Adventure, and Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular.
The plays have a Broadway-style production with actors perfectly dressed in special costumes, impeccable sets, and special effects that bring magic to the shows.
Pools and water attractions
Without a doubt, the big attraction on the Disney Wish is AquaMouse, a water slide with music, lighting, and effects that make the water experience even more attractive. Fun is guaranteed with its curves, drops, and impressive views of the sea through the transparent section.
There are multiple pools spread across the deck, a kids' area called Toy Story Splash Zone, pools exclusive for adults, and an infinity pool at Quiet Cove.
More entertainment on board
Children also love Hero Zone with sports areas, a huge inflatable obstacle course, and challenges. You can also watch Disney movie premieres at Never Land Cinema and Wonderland Cinema.
At night, you will be thrilled with the pirate party, and depending on the season, there may be themed events. In September and October, marvel at Mickey’s Mouse-querade, a Halloween celebration Disney-style. Characters like Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy wear their best costumes and offer a lively reception on the deck. You will see them dancing to the rhythm of Halloween songs and interacting with passengers on board.
What you cannot miss are the fireworks. During one night of the itinerary, you will be able to see a light show in the sky. Disney Cruise Line is the only cruise line with fireworks on the high seas.
