The cell phone registry in Mexico enters a key stage this August 15, 2026, as lines that have not yet been linked to their owner's information will begin to be suspended. The first date corresponds to numbers ending in 0, the deadline for which is this Saturday. On this topic, the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (CRT) explained how such blocking will be carried out and how long people will be able to use their cell phone before the line suspension is applied.
Have you already linked your cell phone to your CURP? If you haven't done so yet, you still have time before you suffer the consequences that will occur if you do not complete the process; remember that it is not the phone that will stop working, but the line. In addition, the suspension is temporary and service can be recovered once the linking is completed.
How long will you be able to use your cell phone if you don't register it?
In a press release, the CRT shared that if the linking is not carried out within the established period, the service will be gradually suspended within 72 hours. “For users who do not complete their linking on time, telephone companies will begin the service suspension process (calls, text messages, and internet) within a 72-hour period following the deadline,” the commission specified.
In addition, the CRT added that there will be no extension, so it called on Mexicans with cell phone numbers ending in 0 to link them as soon as possible to maintain their service without interruptions.
What services will you lose if your line is suspended?
The suspension will affect:
- Llamadas telefónicas
- Mensajes de texto
- Internet.
