The Head of Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, announced an inter-institutional operation with 40,000 public servants to ensure the safety of the thousands of fans who will follow the Mexico vs. England match at various points in the capital this Sunday, July 5.
Although she did not confirm the potential time change for the match, which according to reports from local media was moved from 6:00 PM to 12:00 PM, the head of government assured that the administration is prepared to handle any scenario during the celebrations and gatherings.

Brugada reported that the device will be composed of 17,000 members of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) and 24,000 public servants from various agencies, including Civil Protection, Fire Department, Health, and Integral Risk Management.
The objective will be to protect the attendees who will gather at the main locations enabled to follow the World Cup 2026 Round of 16 match.
Instalarán 62 pantallas gigantes en Paseo de la Reforma
As part of the operation, the CDMX Government will increase to 62 the number of screens to be placed along Paseo de la Reforma, with the intention of spreading out fans and avoiding overcrowding.
In this area alone, 14,000 public servants will be deployed, responsible for security, mobility, medical care, and civil protection tasks.
The screens will extend from the Angel of Independence to the Estela de Luz, allowing thousands of people to enjoy the game at different points on the avenue.
Reforzarán accesos al Ángel de la Independencia y habrá monitoreo tecnológico
The head of government also announced that access controls to the Angel of Independence, one of the sites with the highest concentration of fans during Mexican National Team matches, will be strengthened.
In addition, the operation will feature monitoring through video surveillance technology, in order to react immediately to any incident.
Brugada reminded the public that access to the capital's Zócalo will be subject to available capacity for security reasons.
Salud y Protección Civil también participarán
To handle any emergency, the capital's government will deploy 800 public servants from the Health sector, who will be distributed at various gathering points.
The brigades will provide pre-hospital care and support to attendees throughout the day.
Alcaldías y municipios organizarán festejos
As part of the strategy to avoid a massive concentration at the Angel of Independence, Clara Brugada reported that the mayoralties of Mexico City and municipalities in the metropolitan area will organize activities and spaces so that the population can follow the match near their communities.
With this strategy, the capital's government seeks to decentralize attendance and offer safe spaces for fans of El Tri to enjoy the anticipated duel between Mexico and England during the World Cup 2026 Round of 16.
