The King and Queen, Princess Leonor, and Infanta Sofía will attend the final that the Spanish national team will play in New York next Sunday, the Royal Household reported this Wednesday.

A match that the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, was not scheduled to attend, as he will be on an official visit to Algeria the following Monday, July 20.

However, executive branch sources have reported that they are finally trying to coordinate the schedule so that he can be present in New York for that final and fly from there to Algeria for a visit that, in any case, remains scheduled.

The King recalled this same Wednesday morning in L'Escala (Girona) that he had told the national team players when he went to see them after their second match in the World Cup in Guadalajara (Mexico) that he would not see them again until the final.

A final that Spain has reached after defeating the French team on Tuesday and in which they will face the winner of the semifinal match to be played between Argentina and England.

The King, who said he is very happy, like everyone else, with the result against France, recalled in L'Escala (Girona) how, when he went to the Guadalajara stadium (Mexico) to watch the World Cup match between Spain and Uruguay live, and went down to the locker room after the victory and their qualification, he told the players he would see them in the final.

The King and Queen, Princess Leonor, and Infanta Sofía watched the match yesterday from a hotel in Barcelona after presiding over the Princesa de Girona Foundation awards ceremony, where they could be seen, according to images provided by the Royal Household, wearing the Spanish national team jersey, celebrating and hugging each other over the victory.
