Days after Jalisco implemented the use of face masks due to a measles rebound in basic education schools in the state, the State of Mexico announced on Sunday night the return of the health filter in preschool, primary, and secondary schools; however, parents are requesting a return to remote classes.
The Mexican State Ministry of Education shared on its social media the recommendations issued by the state health department, which highlight the implementation of measures to avoid the spread of the virus and other respiratory illnesses.

The authorities of the State of Mexico reported that the measures recommended against measles include:
- Vacunación
- Regreso del uso de cubrebocas en las escuelas
- Ventilación de los espacios cerrados
- Instalación de filtro sanitario previo al ingreso a clases presenciales
Regarding the latter, the State of Mexico Ministry of Health reported that teachers will be in charge of maintaining detailed monitoring of the students' health status and that they will be trained for this purpose.
This is how the measles health filter should work in state preschool, primary, and secondary schools:
- Toma de temperatura con termómetros sin contacto
- Observación clínica rápida por el personal
- Registrar diariamente las actividades del filtro sanitario
- En caso de detectar síntomas relacionados con el sarampión deberán "separar al alumno en un área de aislamiento y contactar inmediatamente a la unidad de salud local para evaluación y toma de muestras si procede"

State authorities indicated that teachers must take preventive measures in case they detect these symptoms:
- Temperatura mayor a 38 grados
- Ronchas rojizas en el cuerpo y ojos rojos
- Tos
- Manchas blancas dentro de la boca
Likewise, health authorities reported that it is suggested to: "Train designated school personnel in the identification of signs and symptoms of measles, use of non-contact thermometers, isolation protocol, and notification."

On the social media channels of the State of Mexico Ministry of Education, parents and teachers reacted to the statement published this Sunday.
Among the responses, the request to resume the option of remote classes in the face of the measles outbreak in Mexico stands out.
"I hope they activate the hybrid system; for parents who do not wish to take our children to school to avoid any type of contagion, I hope it is considered," mentioned Christina Chirinos.
For their part, other users criticized the haste of the announcement and the lack of training they will have, given that the health authorities' recommendation indicates that the health filter should start this Monday.
"How do they expect the directive to be followed by tomorrow if they announce it after 10 p.m. on a Sunday?" says Carmen Montiel.
